Gibraltar (the city, the Strait, and the African coast) is actually behind us. The view was taken from the Rock of Gibraltar. The runway is at the entrance to the city, and beyond it, ahead, is the border checkpoint and Spain. A road runs down the middle of the runway, which is closed for takeoff and landing. The city (peninsula) itself is about 4 km long, about 1.5 km wide, and the Rock of Gibraltar is over 400 m high.
